Pictures...finally!

Here are some pictures from Easter, It's not often Mike agrees to taking pictures with us, so I had to share this one! The sun was bright that day so forgive the squinty smiles.

The kids had so much fun hunting eggs at Grandma's house. We his a bunch in the tree and the smaller kids couldn't reach them.

And of course the loves of my life. Our Easter was so blessed and full of joy. I hope you're was too!

What a week! In just 50 short minutes my weekend will be over and Monday will rear it's ugly head. Thankfully it's only near midnight so I still have at least 6 hours of sleep to enjoy.

This weekend has been pretty busy. Lil Miss had her first camp in at the Petroleum Museum Friday. It was organized by girl scouts and she had a blast!! They made 2 different bracelets, decorated flip flops and painted a purse. (I'm posting via text so I'll have to post pics later.) since I was a child short I took KB to the hockey game with me and my girlfriends. We had so much fun and laughed so hard our sides ached Saturday! My lil miss made it home safe Saturday morning and soon after both kids were picked up by my father in law to spend the day with him and my MIL, then spend the night. I took advantage and grocery shopped, cleaned house, and took a looooong shower. It was heavenly. I had plans to go to another hockey game with my friends that night and my husband decided he wanted to go too. It was a lot of fun sharing something I enjoy with him.

Today has been a day of cleaning and laundry. It hasn't been fun but it has gone by fast. I did make an awesome dinner that everyone loved. Homemade tostadas with all the fixins. I'll have to post a recipe.

I hate playing catch up!

Did I ever blog about KB winning 3rd place at her school science fair in February and that she scored high enough to advance to regionals? Well she did and to regionals she went and competed against kids from 22 other counties. We were so proud of our girl. She didn't win at regionals, but Mike and I were proud parents none the less. We ended up taking her out to Carino's for a celebration dinner. Poor lamb, she was upset that she didn't place, but we encouraged her that just being there was a achievement and she should be proud of herself. That did the trick!

Lil Miss has been a real whine bag the last few weeks! I don't really have a nicer way of putting it. She whines for everything, EVERYTHING! I love her with all of my heart, but if the whining continues, I will put her up for auction on ebay. I have tried time out, sending her to bed early, talking to her like she's a big girl and even a swat on the hiney. The other night I copied everything she said and whined just like her too. She hated it and told me that my voice was breaking her ears. When I told her that she sounded the same way she stopped, for the rest of that night anyways. I guess it's a phase and this too shall pass, I just hope it passes soon!

Mom is doing wonderful. It irritates me that she was so miserable and with just a few meds and a doctor actually listening to her that, that was all it took for her to do a complete 360. She's finished her second round of chemo this week and still hasn't had vomiting or really any side effects except the hair loss. We have spent every day this week at Dr appointments and all have had nothing but good news. We saw the cardiologist today and he said she's doing great and he'll see her in 6 months! I'm so proud of the fighter she is, and so lucky I have her to look up to. I do worry that the heart failure is hereditary since nearly every woman on moms side has had heart problems. It's a little scary, but it's something I plan to keep an eye on for my own well being.

The kids and I have been on spring break since Friday and although it has been filled with daily dr appointments, it has been nice not having to go to work. Sadly my house is still in shambles, but at least the mountain of laundry has been tackled and is almost completely obliterated. I've spent much needed quality time with my kids and mom and have cooked dinner every night! Tomorrow I'm taking the girls and meeting a few of my coworkers and their families at the hockey game. Hockey has become our guilty pleasure, we can't get enough. We are so excited to go to the game, eat hotdogs and cheer on our beloved Jackalopes!

Snow day 2010

Snow days are rare her in Odessa, so we take full advantage of them! The kids across the street invited my girls out to build a Texas sized snowman! They had a lot of fun and I even had to help them life the body because they made it so big.

Lastly, everyone wants to see mom with her new hairdo... or hairless do. She loves her no fuss make over, and I think she looks great!

Ya better knock on wood baby!

Mom started chemo on Monday and I have been amazed at how great she's doing. Seriously, AMAZED!! She did chemo Monday, Tuesday and again today and besides the fun stories she's told me from her "people watching" at chemo, she's the same. No serious side effects, no vomiting, no fatigue and no loss of appetite. I'm knocking on wood that it will stay this way during her 6 months of treatment. I am so proud of her, her strength makes me stronger.


On another note, we actually got about 5 inches of snow yesterday and they called school off. The kids had a blast playing in the snow with the neighbor kids. They even constructed a huge snowman. I'll post pics as soon as I load them on the laptop. Have a great rest of the week!

There is even a Zombie lap!

Last week my BFF started a Relay for Life team on Guam in honor of her mother Georgia, a breast cancer survivor. I was so inspired that I too decided to start a team. My mother od course is a cancer survivor/current fighter, My MIL is a breast cancer survivor, and I have had several family members fight a lose battles with cancer. Cancer is a heart breaking disease and I do not wish the uncertainty, sadness, and fear that comes with cancer on my worst enemy. Relay for life is basically an overnight walk, run, ride, a-thon. They start with a survivor lap, and then continue in shifts overnight into the wee hours of the morning. That's the Zombie lap! As long as your team has someone on the course every shift, you're in good shape.

Our Relay for Life is scheduled for 6/11/10 at the Odessa College track and I am beyond excited.
